How can I get the Internet on my TV?

The popularity of internet video on-demand services like Hulu, Netflix and YouTube have got people asking ĎHow can I get the internet on my TV?í Itís easier than you think!†

Most televisions sold in the last few years have a computer input built into them. The computer input on your television is the same standard video port and audio jack that you would use to connect a monitor and speakers to your computer.

What do I need to connect my computer to my television?

You need a VGA cable for video and an auxiliary cable for audio (double male headphone cable)

Make sure your computer is located within reach of the video and audio cables

Connect the video and audio cables to your television and computer

Make sure your television and computer are turned on

Switch your televisionís input source to PC

Your television will now display your computerís video and play the audio. Anything you would normally do on your computer can be done when connected to your television.  This setup is ideal for watching video over the internet on a large screen television.

What if my computer has HDMI?

HDMI is a new kind of connection that carries both a video and audio signal, so you only need one HDMI cable to connect your computer to your television. Some computers sold in the last few years have an HDMI output.  Nearly all televisions sold in the last few years have an HDMI input. This connection to your TV would be no different than an HDMI connection with any HDMI enabled device such as a cable box or blu-ray player.

Make sure both your computer and television are both turned on

Connect the HDMI port on the computer to the HDMI port on the television with the HDMI cable

Switch the television to the corresponding HDMI input source (most televisions have multiple HDMI ports)

Connecting your computer to your television allows you to enjoy a broad range of video and other online media content that would not otherwise be available on broadcast or cable television. Itís all about watching what you want to watch when you want to watch it!
